It’s come to my attention that there is a younger and more athletic Kellen Moore taking college football by storm. The quarterback, Kellen Moore, which from this point on will be known as QB Kel, who plays for Boise State is in deed NOT me! It’s been a funny two days because I have received countless twitters and Facebook and even blog comments about how well I’m doing or not doing! Crazy, huh?

A couple of things that differ me (the OG Kellen) to the QB Kel is that one: he goes to Boise State…I went to Southwestern AG Univ. Two: he’s 6’0″ tall and 171…I’m 6’7″ and about 170 (give or take a couple of pounds). Three he plays football…I’m a Frisbee football player and a pastor….he’s a southpaw I believe and I’m right handed….oh, and the least important fact is that he’s white from Washington and I’m not and from California!

So we have a ton of differences and World, please stop thinking I’m him…I’m way cooler and yes I would love to meet him someday and maybe I will so we can settle who is the really Kellen Moore but for now let Kellen be Kellen and QB Kel be him! I will keep you informed about the whole meeting thing…

Today I have decided to make a world of change! One of them starts with this website. There are a lot of different experiences I encounter personally or are a part of and would love the world to know. Things from Haiti to the things I’m learning about God, from comedic life situations to the junior high ministry! Plus this will be a great opportunity to keep my friends and family to stay connected to me and me to them. (side note: I would love to hear from you and know how you feel on different topics).

I know that this post is not even a chunk of what truly has been happening, but it’s an update! Speaking of Updates…this summer i’ll be going down to Haiti (planned pre-earthquakes) and it will seriously be a life changing experience not only for the people going, but ultimately the struggling persons of teh island of Haiti! Love you World and please stay tuned because there will be great things coming at ya!

Doing what i do best...watching TV with a friend in Mexico

This is how I have been feeling of late because life has a whole new meaning and I’m still learning how to deal with it….wait that’s wrong, not learn how to deal with life, but how to work with it! The biggest things that are on my plate right now have to be finishing up school (WOW that’s weird to say!), figuring out my whole car situation, and PASTORING! Now, that last part is my favorite because it is where my heart is at, but man does it take a toll when it comes to time!

Now don’t get me wrong, I want to graduate to EARN my BA in Pastoral Ministries, but I am currently doing what I went to school to do! Does procrastination set in….YES (hince the date of my last blog to this one) and it is difficult to press through, but I know God has called to gain knowledge in order to do what I’m doing to the best of my abilities.

WARNING to ALL students reading! The following thoughts apply to you! (FYI – fo’ yo’ info– Students = Any person who is in a constant state of learning, whether it be you are in High School [Jr. or Sr.], College [BA, Master's, Doc.], Trade School, Internship, Working at a job or in a career, parenting children [especially 4 amazing boys, one of which has the name Kellen J. Moore, love you mommy] or you are “just” a person that is learning life through various experiences.):

When it comes to doing you personal best at something, i.e. school, I believe that you personal best is not quite achieved by people until they allow God to help give them the strength to accomplish what they have set out to do. The previous statement could go up for debate (feel free to give you opinion in the comment area) and I do recognize great business people like Steve Jobs (Apple), Bill Gates (Microsoft), Donald Trump (Trump Corp.), Oprah (whatever she does), actors (male and female), and musicians because these people have done great and have acheived many great accomplishments, but I think the could have personally done so much more if they allowed God (Alpha and Omega, Wonderful Creator, ABBA Father) to take control and allow Him to help them while they were doing what they were doing, they could have done so much more.

So to all students that are doing some type of learning right now, please remember that God is WANTING you to do your best (with Him) and succeed far beyond our own personal expectation, so do not give up, from one student the billions of other on this planet, DON’T GIVE UP!

The highlights involves a young man and a child named Oscar. Sunday night myself and the interns were praying for people for healing or whatever they needed and first this young man about 19 came up for prayer becasue his heart was hurting…his physical heart and asked for prayer, so I prayer for his heart and believing that God was going to heal it, He did!!! This is the first time that God had used me in that area, but best of all that young man’s heart (through him telling me) was feeling a lot better from before! Praise God!

But this kid Oscar was waiting for prayer and he was about 7 or 8 years old. I could not understand what he asked for so I got a translator and she told me he wanted prayer for he dad because his dad left the house/family (wife and 4 kids, including him) with another woman and Oscar wanted his dad to come home. I froze. That really touched my heart because I did not know what to do! What do I say? So, I told him that I’ll pray for his dad, but I was going to pray for him first. After telling him testamony about my dad (which was not completely the same, but hadd the same princple) I began to pray for many different things that he needed to hear like not being bitter, being strong relying on God, and even continuing to love his dad (that was hard to say because it is hard to looking at the circumstances). After I prayed with him I gave him a hug and left, but I felt God tugging on me saying, “Tell him that he needs to CONSTANTLY for his dad”, which did not cross my mind to tell him. So, I ask how to say it in spanish and went back and told Oscar this and he gave me the biggest hug that he initiated and my heart feel to the ground because this 7 or 8 year old boy was having to mature so early and I was proud of his faith in God to come up in an “adult” service and ask for such a big prayer.

Well, these are just a couple of experiences that I got to experience and that’s why the title is called: Nicaragua…People are People! and I love it!!!!

This coming week I’m volunteering a camp called Royal Family Kids Camp^TM and it is one of the most humbling camp that anyone could ever go to. This camp is designed directly for CHILDREN (ages 6-11) who where abuse and/or neglected in any way, shape, or form and it has got me thinking…Why as christians do we often forget what we are called to do…really! We ARE called to reach our friends…we ARE called to reach the homeless…we ARE called to reach the widows and the orphans…we are called to disciple…we are called to spread the gospel to those who are lost and need the CROSS (oh, btw, we ALL NEED THE CROSS, I digress), but so often we forget to do it in the manner God has called us ALL to do it in.

My favorite passage in the entire bible the I have been clinging onto for a few months now is Luke 10:27-28 (NIV): 

²⁷He answered: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

 ²⁸“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

WOW!!! We are to LOVE God with EVERYTHING!!!! and to LOVE our neighbors (which i’ll blog about later–wayyyy too much for right now to cover) like ourselves and that’s a huge responsiblity! And through that we will truely LIVE!!! Love God with ALL and love people like we love ourselves, man, we love ourselves so much (We are the Me Generation…”i”Pod’s, “My”Space, me me me!).

This passage just go me thinking that when I do events like this camp or speak to the Jr. High students, or teach the MIT (our summer high school internship) classes, or talk to a homeless person, or conversate with my friends, or hangout with a complete stranger (safety first), that I first and formost LOVE God and honor Him because I know that I should and second GENUINELY LOVE the person that I am interacting with the…here’s the kicker…SAME WAY I LOVE MYSELF or EVEN MORE! Wow, this totally sums up everything Jesus teaches us about being a “Christ-like” person…

This is how we TRUELY LIVE and LOVE GOD!!
